|
|
This two-week curriculum unit is designed for an Honors or Advanced Placement American Democracy and U.S. Politics course. The focus will be an introductory unit to initiate students as to the purpose of government and the philosophies and ideals upon which the United States Constitution is based. Through an examination of foundational philosophies, students will apply constitutional justification to a variety of societal issues including but not limited to drugs, gun control, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, genetic engineering, and gambling. Such analysis will focus on which is more important to a society: freedom or security and how our Constitution is applied to such issues. |
