	Teenagers and the Law-A Newsletter Publication - Cynthia Eve Holland, Valley High School
	This unit will provide you with the basic understanding and steps necessary to create a newsletter about teenage laws using Microsoft Word. This lesson is written for those with minimal knowledge of Word. It's actually very easy to use. I started with the basic terminology and formatting techniques. The newsletter template will provide you with the necessary parameters and walk you through the steps in a logical order. The various column styles section is just a sampling of many styles. This section will add variety because all the columns are different. I have included two reliable fact sheets so you don't get bogged down with time consuming research. I have also included two student worksheets to insure the students stay on task and to help you with assessment. I allowed five hours of class time to discuss the laws, gather information, meet in groups and type the finalized column. You should allow approximately two to five more hours to familiarize the students with the mechanics of typing a newsletter. If you have never taught students in a technical lab setting it will probably take you longer to get started. I hope you enjoy teaching this lesson.
