All members of the Upward Bound program at the University of California, Irvine are requested, and required, to adhere to the following:
All UB participants must…
- Attend all UB activities and events. All UB events are mandatory unless otherwise specified. Mandatory events include:
- Monthly Saturday Sessions
- Spring College Trip (if applicable)
- Summer Program
- Have an email account
- Check email on a weekly basis
- Check the UB website for announcements and updates at least twice a week
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude around and towards oneself, fellow program participants, and staff
- In the event that a student needs to be excused from an activity, event, or program responsibility, he/she must adhere to the policies that pertains to “Requests to be excused from program events / activities”.
The general consequence for any UB participant that fails to adhere to the rules and policies as stated above, is to submit a single, or two-page, typed, double- spaced, paper on a topic to be assigned by the program director. If the paper is not turned in on time, the number of pages will double until it is submitted. Continuous and consistent infractions of the program may result in dismissal from the Upward Bound program.
