January 12, 2007 IMPORTANT UPDATE

Hi everyone, I hope you've all had a safe and happy winter break as well as new year. I have a special announcement to make about the PROJECT page of this website. I apologize for the confusion that has been made with the rules that have been put on this website, since some of the rules had become outdated. Some students noticed that the topics for the Web Design Competition wasn't listed on the rules from this website. However, I've fixed the project files already. The files are directly linked from the main California MESA website. You can now download the rules at our pages still, but if you would prefer to get them from the original source, please go to the following page below:

November 18, 2006 UC Application Workshop and SLC Meeting

Students from all 4 of our high schools were invited to our UC Application Workshop to finish and get help with personal statements. Shortly afterwards, there was an SLC MESA meeting. I plan to add a new component on the MESA webpage to add information about SLC, so look out for that.

October 28, 2006 Elementary School I'm Going to College Day

Students from Bunche, Clinton, Lincoln, McKinley, Roosevelt, and Willard Elementary School participated in UCI's first piloted "I'm Going to College Day" event for elementary students. Participating students took part in interactive activities and hands on projects during their stay at UCI.

October 21, 2006 High School I'm Going to College Day

On Saturday, 200+ students from four High Schools (King Drew, Centennial, Compton, and Dominguez High), came over to UCI to participate in UC Irvine MESA's annual "I'm Going to College Day" event. The students come to UCI to learn about test strategies, a-g requirements, and even the college application process. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge and information needed to get into college.

September 1, 2006 Jaime's Last Hurrah

Everyone or nearly everyone at CFEP and friends of Jaime were welcomed to his last day at work. The afternoon was spent gambling away at the office at various tables with Bingo, Texas Hold'em, Craps, and Black Jack 21. You will be missed Jaime. Good luck!

August 17, 2006 UCI MESA WEBSITE GOES ONLINE!

Wonderful news, the new MESA website will finally be up online. In addition, I am pleased to introduce our new MESA Director, Leyla Newton.

July 4, 2006 NATIONAL ENGINEERING DESIGN COMPETITION

Over the 3 day period between June 23-25, UC Irvine and CSU Fullerton hosted the National Engineering Design Competition which featured the Multipurpose Vehicle Competition. Student representatives from 8 states over the US came to UCI and CSU Fullerton to compete in the 3 day event. Click here to learn more.

April 30, 2006 MAJOR UPDATES

Massive updates have been added to the website. The information page has been updated to give general information about the program and information for volunteers. The teacher's page is still in process of being completed. The forum is still underway of being moderated and set up; shouldn't take too long to do. The Gallery page is finally updated, check it out. The link page has been updated with a few important links to other sites. If you feel there are other important sites to add, let me know. Also, if there are problems with the website, tell me.

April 29, 2006 Website Under Construction

I'm going to try and make some major updates by finishing the gallery page and working on the information section of the website. I finally put up a forum, so please check it out and sign up.

March 29, 2006 Website Under Construction

Hi everyone, if you've had the opportunity to stop by the website you'll notice that not much has changed since the initial creation. I apologize for the delays in updating but hopefully the website will be up and completely running fairly soon. Currently I'm working on updating the Video's page by uploading the slideshow videos. In addition, I'll be uploading pictures to our picture gallery on the previous MESA Day events. Announcements: MESA Day Regional Competitors should be getting their projects ready. Also, those competing for MPV should have their papers submitted on time.

January 16, 2006_Volunteer for the Upcoming MESA Events.

In the couple of months to come there are three major events that the UCI MESA program will be holding. On February 11, 2006 will be the Elementary School Preliminary MESA Day Competition, on February 25, 2006 will be the Middle School Preliminary MESA Day Competition, and on March 11, 2006 will be the High School Preliminary MESA Day Competition. All of these events will be held on Saturday. The MESA program is currently looking for any volunteers that would like to help at these competition. If you would like more info CLICK HERE. <------

December 25, 2005_Gallery Page Semi-Working & High School Competition Page Almost Done

Hi everyone, Season Greetings. I hope everyone is having a great holiday break for those of you in school, and for those of you still working hard, take sometime to relax. Well, the website has been updated again, and the current updates are related to the Gallery Page and the Projects Page. Within the Gallery Page, the Events in there should be viewable for those galleries, however, I haven't uploaded the actual photos, so you'll only see thumbnails. The images will be uploaded probably in early January, so please bare with me. In addition, I've finished up some more animations for the Projects Page. You'll see some cartoon drawings for the events. I'm still currently working on the Middle School Competition Page.

December 23, 2005__Projects and Image Update

A portion of the Projects page has been completed and the gallery section for the Middle School "I'm Going to College Day has been updated. However, the only the thumbnails are available for viewing since I haven't had the time or resources to upload all the image files, which is an awful big size. In addition, to resize and compress every image by itself would take a couple of hours at most to do, so that'll be done later on. The majority of the links should be working a lot better now, if you find any errors let me know.

December 22, 2005__Image Update

I finally got the UCI MESA images today and I'll be uploading some of them to my temporary server, as of right now you will see changes in the images on the home page. In addition, you will also see that the Gallery page is under construction and further additions to it are being made with new gallery banners for the High School/ Middle School "I'm Going to College Day" Event. Pictures will be uploaded as soon as I'm able to design a thumbnail page for the images.

December 20, 2005__UPDATE 3 Shoutbox Added

The following changes have been made to the website. I've added a shoutbox for the convenience of students and teachers or any individual who would like to leave a message about the site or any announcements that wish to be made. However, if you wish to make the announcement appear on the upper portion of the site and make it official, contact me via email and notify me of that necessity to do so.

December 20, 2005__UPDATE 2 UCI MESA Website V 2.0

The finishing touches of the website are coming into place. For those of you still new to the site, you might have noticed the animation that has been added. Earlier the images were still, but now they are small animated cartoons. I'm not too sure whether this will be pleasing to the eye or rather frustrating so let me know your opinion. Currently the other pages of the website are up now, but some like the gallery and videos page are still empty. They'll be updated soon enough. Again, let me know of any issues and problems you see with the website that I should address.

December 18, 2005___THE UCI MESA WEBSITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Finishing touches to the first homepage of the UCI MESA website are being put into place. It will only be a matter of time till the website will be completed. Hope this works out. I've yet to finish the other pages of the website, the only portion completed so far is the homepage which will be the basis for the other pages. I know the site doesn't seem much yet, but I hope to make it user efficient for your convenience. As I have said before, notify me of any errors and problems you find with the website so I can quickly correct them. Your support will be the basis of the creation of this website.
