Professional Development for Early Childhood Educators

PRESCHOOL LANGUAGE LITERACY AND FOUNDATIONS:

DESCRIPTION

The California Reading and Literature Project Preschool Language and Literacy Foundations Institutes are designed for Preschool Educators of children 3 to 5 years old.

The Preschool Language and Literacy Foundations program is an early literacy professional development institute developed by the California Reading and Literature Project (CRLP) under contract with the University of California Office of the President (UCOP), and with a generous grant from the California Children and Families Commission. CRLP developed materials that include current research, pedagogy, and strategies to support instruction, ongoing assessment, second language learners, and family outreach in Oral Language, Comprehension, Print Awareness, Alphabet Knowledge, and Phonological Awareness.  This institute provides comprehensive professional development in evidence-based principles and practices that create strong early literacy classrooms.  The Language and Literacy Foundations Institute is designed to connect to curriculum and assessments already in place in classrooms.
