California Math & Science Teaching (CMST) Initiative
CMST is the California Math and Science Teaching Initiative (formerly the Community Teaching Fellowship in Math and Science - CTFMS), sponsored by the University of California Office of the President. CMST is designed to provide undergraduate students with intensive fieldwork experiences in middle and high school mathematics and science classrooms. Students complete up to 15 hours per week in partner schools under the guidance of mentor teachers, while earning a stipend for their time. The CMST program also serves as a "pre-intern" pathway for students who wish to become math or science teaching interns after earning a B.S. degree.
Eligibility:
- Must be a currently enrolled UCI student, with upper division standing
- Must be a declared major in one of the following Schools: Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Henry Samueli School of Engineering, Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Science
- Must have completed PS 5 and PS 105 through our partner program, UCI California Teach AND be currently enrolled in or have completed PS 106
