CFEP Members named to Honor Roll
CFEP members Darlene Boyd and Kika Friend were named on the 2009 Living Our Values Honor Roll. The Living Our Values Award honors members of the UC Irvine community – staff, faculty and students – whose actions best embody the university’s values of respect, intellectual curiosity, integrity, commitment, empathy, appreciation and fun.

For over 15 years Darlene Boyd has directed UCI’s Gifted Students Academy. Boyd recently assumed the directorship of the Academic Talent Search program. Kika Friend has directed the NSF-funded California Alliance and Minority Participation Program at UC Irvine for over 20 years.

California Reading & Literature Project Participant Honored
Kasey Klappenback, participant in the CFEP’s California Reading & Literature Project (CRLP), was honored at the Orange County Hispanic Education Endowment Fund's (HEEF) 16th Annual Apple of Gold Gala Awards Dinner on October 16th in Anaheim, CA. Kasey has been involved in CRLP activities since 2001, when he began implementing the Results assessments in his classroom. He currently serves as the regional facilitator of the Results Program Leadership Team and also serves as a presenter for the Results for English Learners program.
